The mission of the Taos Gallery
Association is to promote the visual arts of Taos, New Mexico on a
national level.
Cradled on the
edge of where the soaring Sangre de Cristo Mountains of
northern New Mexico fan out westward toward the sage brushed mesas and
plains, Taos has been a magnet for artists for over 100 years.
Rooted with the now legendary "broken wheel" of Blumenschein and Sharp
in the 1890's, to the formation of the "Taos Society of Artists" in the
early 20th century, Taos' storied history as an artists' community is
as colorful and vibrant as the arts and crafts emanating from its adobe
and hollyhock-lined streets.
